Amec Foster Wheeler wins CFB boiler contract with China's GPEC
MARKET PROSPECTS treatment plant at the Bunker Hill Superfund site near Kellogg, Idaho, USA. Under the US$48.4 million contract, Amec Foster Wheeler will design and construct an expansion of the currently operating Central Treatment Plant, including new reactors, a sludge thickener and pressure filter system. Amec Foster Wheeler will also design and construct an 8000-ft slurry wall, groundwater collection system with six miles of piping, and a ten-acre sludge impoundment area. The company will also operate and maintain the facility throughout the design, construction and commissioning stages and for one year after the project has been finalised. The work is part of required remedial action under the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) efforts to clean up historic contamination in the Silver Valley.

acobs Engineering Group Inc is to provide engineering, procurement and field support services for the overhaul of acid plants at Codelco Co’s Chuquicamata Mine in northern Chile. The services will improve the mine’s safety and sustainability. Jacobs’ scope of work includes modifications to existing facilities to support the operation of two new double contact/ double absorption acid plants. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2018.

Located in Attarat Um Ghudran, approximately 100km southeast of Amman, the two 235 MWe CFB boilers are designed to burn Jordanian oil shale. This project will help Jordan to use its substantial oil shale reserves and to reduce its reliance on imported oil and gas.

GE releases white paper on digital water solutions policy

E Water Process Technologies has unveiled a white paper entitled The Future of Water Management: A Menu for Policymakers in the Digital Industrial Era.
The GE white paper highlights how digital water solutions are proving their potential to transform the way utilities manage water treatment, distribution and usage. The paper also provides guidance for governments looking to accelerate the adoption of these solutions. Authored by Jon Freedman, leader of global partnerships and policy for GE Water & Process Technologies, and by Geoffrey Dietz, an R Michael Gadbaw Global Law & Policy Fellow supporting GE’s Global Governmental Affairs and Policy team, the white paper presents the major types of policies that promote adoption of digital water solutions. These policies include education and outreach; barrier removal; incentives; and regulations and standards. GE offers a menu of policy options to help governments address their water resource and infrastructure needs through digital solutions. The paper also highlights examples of how cities and countries around the world are beginning to adopt digital water solutions and technologies. Emefcy and RWL Water to deploy MABR technology in China

ollowing on from their strategic alliance, Israel’s Emefcy Group Ltd and New York-based RWL Water have announced their first joint project in China (see Pump Industry Analyst, March 2017). Developed in partnership with one of Emefcy’s Chinese distributors, the project involves a multiphase agreement to use the Israeli company’s MABR wastewater treatment technology at a plant in Tianjin which is owned and operated by Tianjin Caring Co. The first phase of the project is based on a proprietary “packaged plant design solution” developed jointly by Emefcy and RWL Water, with an installed capacity of 20 000 litres per day and scheduled for installation in the third quarter of 2017. This paid Phase I MABR “packaged plant” combines Emefcy’s proprietary technology and RWL Water’s engineering and packaging solutions.
