AAF invests in new R&D centre in the UK

ir filtration company AAF Power & Industrial has opened a £1 million research and development centre at the company’s global headquarters in Cramlington, Northumberland, UK. The AAF centre was formally opened by Yasushi Yamada, senior executive officer of AAF’s Japanese parent company Daikin Industries Ltd. Yamada said that the centre was the first step in a programme of growth based around investment in new technology and products, part of the company’s aim to be the global number one for its products in the industrial sectors in which it operates. These include air filtration, acoustic and power augmentation equipment for gas powered turbines and other industrial pollution control products. Bob Carling, general manager of AAF Power & Industrial at Cramlington, said:

“The R&D centre is a fantastic new development for AAF Power & Industrial. After many years of consistent growth, we feel this is the right time to expand facilities on site and drive forward the global ambitions of our parent group.” The centre has already created around eight new jobs and is set to result in a further 20 over the next two to three years. Cramlington is the global headquarters for AAF Power & Industrial, employing around 250 people on site. The company recently opened a sales office in Brazil and will be increasing investment in Middle Eastern and emerging markets.

Mann+Hummel opens new subsidiary in Dubai

ummins Filtration is to sell its 100 000 sq ft North Plant in Lake Mills, Iowa to Lake Mills city and lease back approximately 35 000 sq ft for the continued production of filtration media at the facility. The filtration company will also donate the North Plant’s 30 000 sq ft child care and fitness centre facilities to the city. “Cummins wanted to do the right thing for the city of Lake Mills. We are committed to helping the city bring new business to the area,” said Joseph Saoud, president of Cummins Filtration. “Additionally, as part of our ongoing commitment to the city we wanted to donate the child care and fitness centre building to ensure continued service for Lake Mills and the surrounding community. We will continue to assist these operations through the end of the current contract.” Cummins Filtration will continue to operate the Lake Mills South Plant.

The company says that customers should benefit from simpler invoicing and payment procedures and quicker order processing times. “Now we will be able to sell directly to customers. Customers will receive support and the goods from one source. In the Arab world direct transactions and direct contacts are very important parts of customer orientation,” said Mann+Hummel Middle East managing director Susan Falah. Falah previously managed the Mann+Hummel representative office in Dubai, which has been established since 2007. Mann+Hummel has been supplying Mann Filter-branded air filters through wholesalers and partners in the Middle East region since the 1960s. This gives the company strategic perspectives which were not possible in combination with a filtration expert,” said Mann+Hummel managing director Frank Jehle.
