Mann+Hummel strengthens water business with Brazilian acquisition

M

ann+Hummel Brasil Tecnologia Em Agua Participacoes Ltda has bought Brazilian system supplier Fluid Brasil Sistemas e Tecnologia Ltda. Fluid Brasil specialises in reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration solutions used in the treatment of water and wastewater. Headquartered in Jundiaí, near São Paulo, Brazil, Fluid Brasil had a turnover of approximately E25 million in 2011 and 80 employees. “Fluid Brasil enables us to expand our system expertise and gives us access to the local water market. The company complements our portfolio very well,” said Alfred Weber, CEO of Mann+Hummel. “I founded and built up the company 20 years ago. Now I am really happy to be able to pass on the company to a well known global filtration specialist which will enable it to grow. Right from the start it was very important for me that the employees are in the hands of a reliable employer with good future prospects,” said Fluid Brasil’s founder and managing director José Eduardo Rocha.

In 2009, Mann+Hummel set up a water filtration division with its headquarters in Singapore. Since then, Mann+Hummel has acquired Singapore-based membrane specialist Ultra-Flo and expanded its water activities in Asia-Pacific, NAFTA and Europe. COMMENT Having recently entered the European water market, Mann+Hummel is now focusing on South America, adding new technologies and markets to its growing water portfolio (see Filtration Industry Analyst, October 2011). Fluid Brasil should provide a solid base for Mann+Hummel to build and grow its South American water filtration business. ■
