The Western Thoracic Surgical Association WTSA 42nd Annual Meeting Call for Abstracts The WTSA’s 42nd Annual Meeting will be held at the Hilton Waikoloa Village in Waikoloa, Hawaii, from June 22 to 25, 2016. Abstract submissions are now being accepted for presentation consideration at the 2016 WTSA Annual Meeting through Sunday, January 10, 2016, at 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time. NEW: WTSA Traveling Fellowship for Residents, Trainees, and Practicing Surgeons The goal of this new WTSA Traveling Fellowship is to promote interaction and learning between residents/trainees/ practicing surgeons and WTSA members. The traveling fellow will visit a University-affiliated or academic practice of his/her choosing, within the boundaries of the WTSA, for a period of one to two weeks, under the sponsorship of a Western member at the hosting institution. Annual Meeting Registration Packages Allied Health Package includes registration for the Saturday Courses, Sunday Symposium, and the 96th Annual Meeting (Monday-Wednesday). Registration completed before March 25, 2016, is only $400 and on or after March 26, 2016, is $500. Resident/Fellow and Medical Student Package includes registration for the Saturday Courses, Sunday Symposium, and the 96th Annual Meeting (Monday-Wednesday). Registrations completed before March 25, 2016, are able attend at no charge. After March 26, 2016, registration will be $300. Saturday Courses and Sunday Symposium Registration Register for a Saturday course and/or a Sunday symposium and you will have access to all other courses/symposia taking place that same day. Please note registration for the Saturday courses and/or Sunday symposium is separate from the Annual Meeting registration rate. fellow does not need to be a WTSA member; the award is open to any resident/trainee/practicing surgeon. Reimbursement of up to $5,000 will be provided to the traveling fellow to defray reasonable costs for travel, lodging, and meals. To be eligible for consideration, the following materials should be submitted to the Association Office via the online application at www.westernthoracic.org no later than December 15, 2015: Online Application to include the following uploads: Applicant responses to survey questions Curriculum Vitae or Resume Letter of support from the Chief of Surgery at applicant’s primary hospital Letter of support from a current Active or Senior WTSA member The award will be announced publicly at the 42nd WTSA Annual Meeting, June 22-25, 2016, in Waikoloa, Hawaii; it is requested that the awardee be present at this meeting to receive the award. The awardee will contact the sponsoring member and make arrangements to complete the fellowship during the period of June 26, 2016, to June 20, 2017. It is requested that the awardee attend the 43rd WTSA Annual Meeting, June 21-24, 2017, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and make an oral presentation at that meeting about the traveling fellowship experience.
