ome 4,300 practitioners, pharmacy leaders, pharmacy students, and guests gathered in Washington, D.C., March 10-14, for the 137th Annual Meeting and Exhibit of the American Pharmaceutical Association (APhA). From the gala opening reception to the closing banquet, attendees chose from a variety of programs and activities on the practice of pharmacy. Pharmacists were offered 160 hours of continuing education credit in the 75 + sessions on drug therapy, pharmacy management, science, and health policy. In professional organization meetings, tutorials, and informal discussions with their colleagues, APhA President Philip P Gerbino takes office. attendees gathered ideas and information for enhancing their pharmacy practice and improving paAnnual Meeting photography by Oscar & tient care.

The 1990 APhA Annual Meeting marked the 25th anniversary of the Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management (APPM) and the Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science (APRS). During the APPM and APRS Awards and Installation Ceremony, the new academy presidents cut a cake given to the two academies by the Academy of Students of Pharmacy (ASP).
