RSPO trademark gains momentum, 121 licences issued to companies from 24 countries The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) recently celebrated the second anniversary of its trademark, which is used on product packaging to highlight the presence of certified sustainable palm oil (CSPO) and help consumers make an informed choice. So far, the RSPO has issued 121 RSPO trademark licences to companies from 24 countries. The trademark has gained traction in Europe and the USA. Looking at the future, RSPO will focus its efforts on further leveraging the trademark in China and India - the world’s two biggest consumer markets of palm oil. The current estimated production capacity of RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil is 8.2 M tonnes/y, approximately 15% of global palm oil production. Spread over 2.2 M hectares of certified area, about 48.2% of the world’s current RSPOcertified sustainable palm oil production capacity comes from Indonesia, followed by 43.9% from Malaysia, and the remaining 7.9% from Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Thailand, Cambodia, Brazil, Colombia and Ivory Coast. manufacture well over 500 different products on the site for use in crop care, home care and personal care, and in industrial applications such as lubricants or construction chemicals. In recent years, the Gendorf site has been constantly expanded within the defined global strategy of the Business Unit Industrial & Consumer Specialties (BU ICS). As well as increasing production capacities, particular emphasis has also been placed on expanding the product range and raising the already very high quality standard. As part of the BU ICS global quality initiative, the Gendorf site is not only ISO 9001and ISO 14001-certified but has also recently obtained cosmetics GMP ISO 22716 certification. SURFACTANTS Dow introduces Triton HW-1000 high performance wetting agent Dow Chemical has launched Triton HW-1000 Surfactant High Performance Wetting Agent in North America. The company says this nonAPE based surfactant meets growing

performance needs for water-based formulations to meet low- and noVOC regulatory requirements in multiple industries, while also addressing industry requirements for faster processing. Triton HW-1000 is relevant to a broad range of applications including coatings, printing and inks, metalworking fluids, cleaning, agrochemicals and adhesives. It features excellent wetting and levelling performance, and demonstrates low foaming and de-foaming capabilities, Dow reports. It effectively reduces the surface tension of waterborne solutions under both static and dynamic statuses. Thus, Triton HW-1000 is capable of wetting various substrates and successfully reducing defects while improving the gloss and smoothness of coating films. It has demonstrated capabilities in helping to improve solution flow in formulated systems. Additionally, rapid pigment dispersion capability has been found in customer-driven tests.
