EUROPEAN RESEARCH CONFERENCE
QUANTUM OPTICS Castelvecchio Pascoli, Italy 13-18 September 1997 Chairman: L. A. Lugiato (Milano, I) Vice-Chairman: M. Ducloy (Villetaneuse, F)
This will be the eighth Quantum Optics Conference in this series, co-sponsored by the European Science Foundation and the Euroconferences Activity of the European Union. This series of meetings, organised
in association with the European Physical Society, was, until 1995, held in Davos, Switzerland, Since
1996 it has been shifted to Castelvecchio Pascoli, a village in the countryside of Tuscany near Lucca, Italy. It has attained a notable prestige for its high scientific level, and it has become a traditional meeting event for the community of Quantum Optics in Europe. The 1997 edition will concentrate on the following areas of Quantum Optics: * Coherent Matter Waves (atom optics, laser cooling, BEC, etc.) * Quantum Information (quantum cryptography and computing etc.) * Microlasers and Cavity QED * Quantum Structures (quantum aspects in atomic or ionic lattices and in non-linear patterns)
Speakers will provisionally include: I. Abram (Bagneux, F) A. Aspect C-Y. F) R. Blatt (Innsbruck, A) R. W. Boyd (Rochester, USA) K. Burnett (Oxford, UK) C. Cohen-Tannoudji (Paris, F) J.H.
