OWING to the early hour, 9.7 a.m., only twelve members assembled at London Bridge Station. On arrival at Brighton the party proceeded to the Elephant Bed. The Director explained that the Chalk seen belonged to the Actinocamax quadratus-zone, resting upon the Marsupite-band, which, in its turn, overlay the Uintacrinus-band. Owing to the high tide the interesting crinoid which gives its name to the last-mentioned zone was not seen. The members proceeded by the cliff edge to Rottingdean, and there descended to the shore, and at the close of a most enjoyable afternoon the Director named and recorded the following species as found in the quadratus-beds : Porosphara nuci.Jormis " globularis " pileolus " arrecta (7) Plinthosella Ventricuiites, 2 spp. Coelosmilia reguiaris Hydractinia Eschara lamarcki ., sp. Bourgueticrinus (head, &c.) Asteroid ossicles
After tea the party motored to Brighton, and took train for London. REFERENCES. Geological Survey Map Sheet (drift). 1900. ROWE, A. W.-" Zones of the White Chalk." (6), pp. 336-346. PI. ix, Section I.
