Suez to build and operate Mexican desalination plant
S
uez, NSC Water and NuWater are to finance, build and operate the new desalination plant in Playas de Rosarito, in the Mexican State of Baja California. Under the agreement, Suez will be in charge of the construction of the plant in two phases and will participate in its operation for 37 years. The first construction phase, due to start in 2017, will enable the production of 190 000 m3 of drinking water per day by 2020. The second conditional phase will double the capacity of the plant to 380 000 m3 per day by 2024, making it the largest seawater desalination plant on the American continent. The construction contract is worth E389 million to Suez.

Fjords Processing provides fine filter for Statoil
F
jords Processing has delivered a 31-tonne seawater fine filter skid for Statoil’s Maria field in the Norwegian Sea two weeks ahead of schedule. The Puritech Finefilter is designed to remove organic particles from seawater using pure polypropylene filter cartridges, with selected pore size ratings in two stages, within one vessel. The technology also allows automated reconditioning of the cartridges to regularly restore filtration efficiency, with a throughput of 254 cubic metres per hour, and sitting on a skid measuring just 6m x 4.5m x 8m. The contract was delivered through energy services company Aibel AS, with fabrication contracted to Stryvo Bismo AS.
