Successful launch for Composites Europe THE NEW trade fair COMPOSITES EUROPE was successfully launched in Germany, last month, attracting more than 3700 visitors and around 200 exhibitors. Visitors awarded the new event good marks: 77% of the visitors gave a ‘positive’/‘very positive’ assessment of the show.

The event was organised by Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH and the European Composites Industry Association (EuCIA), supported by media sponsor Reinforced Plastics magazine. It was colocated with Reed’s Aluminium trade fair, offering a new source

of visitors for the composites exhibitors. Around 45% of the visitors to COMPOSITES EUROPE came from the automotive and transport sector; the aerospace (29%), building and construction (23%) and sports and leisure (22%) sectors were also well

represented. Around 58% of visitors came from outside of Germany, mainly from the Benelux countries, Great Britain and France, and nearly 80% of visitors said that they made new contacts. COMPOSITES EUROPE was accompanied by the 9th International Congress of the Federation of Reinforced Plastics eV (AVK). COMPOSITES EUROPE 2007 will take place in Stuttgart, Germany, on 6-8 November. ICPA merges with ACMA THE INTERNATIONAL Cast Polymer Alliance (ICPA), Arlington, Virginia, USA, has voted to officially merge with the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA). This year, the two organisations are co-locating their annual conventions for the first time; Composites & Polycon 2006 takes place in St. Louis, Missouri, on 18-20 October (see pages 30-39). The merger is the result of a four-year ‘engagement period’ in which the ICPA was affiliated with the ACMA, utilising the same staff and resources. ICPA will remain in control of its reserves and continue to maintain its own magazine and website. ACMA; www.acmanet.org
