IN BRIEF/NEWS

In Brief UÊ DMW Corp’s Mishima plant in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan has obtained ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) N category certificate and is now authorised as an ASME-N nuclear power plant equipment supplier. The ASME-N certificate enables DMW to provide equipment for the US nuclear market, which requires N-certification. www.dmw.co.jp UÊ Scherzinger has a new production and assembly site in Kunshan, China. “Some of our main German customers import our pumps to China in order to integrate them in their systems there and resell them in the Chinese market. Every order incurs import and management costs for the customer – although these additional costs could be avoided by direct procurement from our plant in Kunshan,” said Scherzinger sales manager Thomas King. The Kunshan site will also be used to store pumps produced in Germany and commission them as required instead of delivering them as single pieces to China with high transport costs. www.scherzinger.de UÊ Grundfos is partnering with The Kansas City Royals baseball team to be their official pump and pump systems provider. The partnership is focused on water use and efficiency, both inside and outside the Kauffman Stadium. The Royals and Grundfos are currently undergoing an audit of the stadium’s fountains. Grundfos has its US headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. www.grundfos.us UÊ /…iÊPentair Foundation has announced a US$1 million grant to the non-profit Water Missions International (WMI) to fund clean water and sanitation projects in developing countries, building on Pentair’s existing Project Safewater initiative with WMI. www.pentair.com UÊ /…iÊ Xylem Watermark 2012 China Program has been launched in conjunction with China Women’s Development Foundation to provide a clean water supply, sanitation and hygiene education to 16 rural schools in Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Yunnan, Guizhou and Jiangsu. www.xylemwatermark.com and www.xyleminc.com 12
