NEWS/IN BRIEF will become a division of OTP Industrial Solutions, which provides technical sales and service for industrial automation, motion control, fluid power, pumps, spray finishing, sealant and adhesive application and power transmission systems and products. The acquired companies will continue to operate under their own names and with current management, including president George Furey and vice president Jack Furey, who will both remain with the organisation. “Furey Filter & Pump and PSI Engineering will become an important part of our pump, filtration, service and fabrication business,” said Rob Webb, president of OTP Industrial Solutions. George Furey believes that becoming part of OTP Industrial Solutions will offer growth opportunities for Furey and PSI employees, customers and suppliers. “We strive to safely deliver quality products, engineering expertise and technical support as well as repair and field services to the market,” said George Furey. “OTC provides resources that will enhance our ability to deliver those objectives. Our employees will also benefit from training and growth opportunities as well as the availability of marketing and sales tools for customer and project recognition. Ultimately, our customers will benefit from OTC’s commitment to providing the products and services that the customers need when they need them.” With the acquisition of Furey Filter & Pump and PSI Engineering, OTC now has 37 locations throughout the US’s South, Southeast, Midwest and Northeast regions, along with 18 service shops, and nearly 1000 employees. Earlier this year, US private equity firm Genstar Capital purchased OTC from Irving Place Capital, in partnership with management (see Pump Industry Analyst, April 2019). Initially, the training course was organized to provide Sulzer and Nidec engineers with a better understanding of the benefits of their combined organizations. Held in Pasadena, Texas, the course uses a fully functioning demonstration unit to illustrate the interaction between the electric motor and the driven equipment. Following the success of the initial course, it is now being rolled out to customers to help them reduce operating costs, improve the performance of their operations and prolong the use of existing equipment. Over the five days, attendees learn about preventative maintenance, MV drives and their operation with pumps, compressors, fans and extruders as well as a demonstration of how to install and commission an MV drive. www.sulzer.com • Organisers of Aquatech Amsterdam say more than 1000 water professionals from around 100 countries pre-registered for the event within the first 24 hours of registration opening.
