ames Walker & Co Ltd has expanded its research and development capabilities by opening a £0.5-million, purpose-built laboratory facility within the James Walker Elastomer Technology Centre in the north of England, UK. The new temperature-controlled mechanical and analytical laboratories at this facility are equipped with instrumentation for differential scanning V>ÀiÌÀÞ]ÊÌ iÀ}À>ÛiÌÀVÊ>>ÞÃÃÊ>`ÊÕÀiÀÊ ÌÀ>ÃvÀÊvÀ>Ài`Ê/,®ÊëiVÌÀÃV«Þ° ÕÊÌiÃiÊ>`ÊV«ÀiÃÃÊÌiÃÌ}Êv>VÌiÃÊ are also included, and an environmental chamber enables this work to be carried out across a full temperature range, while the dedicated ‘wet’ chemistry section incorporates 12 ovens that have comprehensive data-logging facilities. The creation of this new facility is only part of the work being undertaken at the centre, with the company’s pilot mixing plant and rheology laboratory also undergoing expansion.
