The Schriidinger Equation in Helical Coordinates. T. GARAVAGLIA. Colaiste Teichneblaiochta, Sraid Chaoimhln, agus, Institiuid Ard-Ikighinn Baile Atha Cliath, Bire AND JAGANNATHAN GOMATAM. School of Theoretical Physics, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, Ireland. Orthogonal coordinate systems with helical geometry are constructed in euclidean 3-space and the Schriidinger equations in these coordinate systems are obtained. Of the two helical coordinate systems discussed, the external system consists of flat surfaces while the internal system consists of surfaces of constant Gaussian curvature. A singular cylinder separates these two systems. Characterization of the Radiation from Point Sources. DANILO VILLARROEL. Universidad de Chile, Facultad de Ciencias Flsicas y Matematicas, Departamento de Flsica, Santiago, Chile. We show that the electromagnetic radiation from sources with a multipole structure and confined to a world line can be locally characterized in a unique way by a splitting of the energymomentum tensor, in which the part associated to the radiation is divergenceless off the world line. This result allows us to define radiation at arbitrary distances from the source; in contrast with the usual treatment in which this can be done only at large distances from it. Radiation of a classical spinning electron is discussed in some detail. Finally, the gravitational radiation in the linear approximation is also considered. Local
