Blue Water will leave the Texas office intact and has rehired Jay Stevens as general manager of the wholly owned subsidiary. SIEMENS SEES GROWING DEMAND FOR MEMBRANES Siemens Water Technologies is seeing a steady increase in the demand for its water reuse technologies, especially its Memcor membrane products. “Since we installed our first tertiary reuse system in the early 1990s, we’ve seen a significant increase in the global demand for membrane systems,” says Chuck Gordon, executive vice president of the Water Technologies Systems Unit. “Although membranes are thought of as a drinking water filtration solution, our membranes are increasingly being used for water reuse in areas where potable water is scarce or in industries that need a reliable, high quality water source.” “Another reason for membranes’ growing popularity is the fact that configurations and materials have been expanded and refined,” says Gordon. “For example, we offer both pressurized and submerged membrane systems, membrane bioreactors and packaged systems for industrial and satellite treatment. our initial polypropylene membrane, such as chlorine-resistant membranes, higher membrane permeability and lower particle size cut-offs, offer customers high water quality at a lower cost.”

SEYCHELLE WATER SIGNS DRAS FOR USA/ CANADA Seychelle Water Filtration Products has signed two distribution rights agreements (DRAs) with an unnamed major emergency preparedness distributor. Under the DRAs, the distributor will market and distribute a variety of Seychelle water filtration products under the Aqua Gear brand name to retailers, mass merchandisers and big-box stores in the US and Canada. The distributor also has distribution capabilities in South America, Africa and Asia. “We are very pleased with this new association,” said Carl Palmer, founder, president and chief executive officer of Seychelle Environmental Technologies. “Our new distributor, a major company in the emergency and disaster preparedness market will be adding our new Aqua Gear 18 oz water filtration bottle to their emergency preparedness packs now on a national rollout. The new bottle is truly designed for the world market. Its features include: a dispenser for RediChlor chlorine water disinfection tablets to purify source water, a chlorine dispenser, pre-filter, easy open spout with protective cover, and howto-use instructions printed on

the bottle. Under the purchase agreement, Seychelle will be providing the majority of the other non-food items that will be featured in the packs – utensils, hygiene kits, cooking pots, first aid kits etc. By the first of the year, our distributor will start marketing other Aqua Gear products including Bottoms-Up bottles, canteens, pure water straws, hydration backpacks and filter replacements,” Palmer said. In support of this marketing and distribution effort, Seychelle has received several orders for the new 18 oz bottle that exceed US$500 000 to date.

MEGOLA TO CARRY HYUNDAI FILTRATION SYSTEMS Canada’s Megola Inc has signed a dealership agreement with Hyundai Air & Water Technologies Inc to carry their water filtration, health and hygiene and air purification systems as part of Megola’s product offerings. The agreement is exclusive to a three-county region in Southwestern Ontario with a population of over 600 000. Megola will offer point-ofuse purification systems and counter-top water dispensers to complement its water treatment product line, as well as Hyundai’s portable air purification systems. “We feel it is important to offer a full complement of point-of-entry and point-ofuse systems to our customers. Hyundai is a very reputable, international company that is currently growing in North

America. We are very excited at the prospect of offering their point-of-use RO and air purification systems,” said Joel Gardner, CEO of Megola Inc. “We feel that offering these top-of-the-line products better allows us to serve the needs of our customers who do not require the point-of-entry air and water treatment that we offer through our Cuno line of filtration systems and our Megola AquaGuardian and AirGuardian systems. Creating associations with companies that we see having a synergistic relationship with Megola is a priority as we move forward with our company’s growth,” added Gardner. “Partnering with Megola, a proven provider in the pointof-entry water and air treatment market, is a logical step for Hyundai to penetrate and gain market share in the important southwestern Ontario region,” said Sina Kachooie, CEO of Hyundai Air & Water Technologies Inc. “This Dealership commitment solidifies our venture as complementary technology companies.”
