Given the continued losses in this segment and little prospect for improvement, however, this is the right decision for the future success of Cummins Filtration.” The Waynesboro facility, which opened in 2003, produces exhaust systems and structural frame components for small engine applications such as lawn and garden equipment and all-terrain vehicles. It is the only Cummins Filtration facility devoted solely to SERV products. The segment has remained unprofitable for the past three years, despite a significant investment of people and resources into the business. All current supply agreements will be honoured and the company will work with customers to help with the transition to new suppliers. Cummins Filtration also is committed to maintaining its facility in Waynesboro as it actively pursues a buyer.

India was strategically chosen as the location for Pall’s new Centre of Excellence in Asia because of the country’s highly regarded reputation in life sciences spanning biopharmaceutical research, development and production. CLARCOR COMPLETES US$50 MN SHARE BUYBACK Clarcor Inc purchased 1 550 000 shares of its common

stock on the open market during the month of April at an average price of US$31.83 per share. These purchases were made under the company’s previously announced share repurchase authorization. Approximately US$60 million remains available to effect additional purchases under the current authorization, which expires in June 2007. “The management and board of directors of Clarcor believe that the purchase of the company’s stock at the price levels recently available in the market represented a great investment for our company and our shareholders. We have ample cash flow and borrowing capacity to pursue a variety of strategic initiatives and investments, including acquisitions and additional share repurchases,” explained Norm Johnson, Clarcor’s chairman and chief executive officer (CEO).

MICROFILTREX EXTENDS WITH LAB RANGE To support demand from the Life Sciences’ industry, Porvair’s Microfiltrex has extended its filtration and separation capability with the addition of small-scale filtration products. Positioned to provide solutions to laboratory bioprocessing applications including clarification, sterile filtration, venting and gas filtration, the Lab Range comprises syringe filters and devices, a selection of filter capsules and junior cartridge filters, with a choice of media, pore size and connections. “Following success with our Microfiltration product range for Life Sciences, we identified a customer need for small-scale filtration products, a niche that the Lab Range fulfils,” says Bob Wilkinson, general manager, Microfiltration.
