The soundly established procedure of collaborative study of proposed methods and changes in older methods continues as the basis for acceptance. Purchasers of the 9th ed. can obtain, a t cost, reprints of the changes in methods adopted a t the annual meetings 1960-1963, inclusive. The new double-column format and typographical changes have vastly improved the readability of the text while conserving space. The chapter on soils has been omitted but the scheme of elementary analysis has been retained by inclusion in the chapter on liming materials.
