Technip, Chiyoda, Fluor JV wins 2 Australian contracts
MARKET PROSPECTS The US water services company has operated these facilities in Indiana through a public-private partnership since 1998. The new five-year contract is worth about US$54 million in total revenue for United Water. Under the terms of the agreement, United Water will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and management of the district’s facilities which include a 60 million-gallon-a day wastewater treatment plant, a 360-mile sewer collection system with 25 miles of storm sewers and five miles of separate sanitary sewers, 36 pumping stations including 20 sanitary remote pumping stations and 16 storm water pumping stations and 12 combined sewer overflows. United Water is a subsidiary of the Suez Environment division of the Suez Group.

Eskom selects Black & Veatch for South African power plant
Foster Wheeler’s scope includes an oxygen/ steam gasifier and gas treatment equipment. The plant uses Foster Wheeler’s fuel-flexible circulating fluidized-bed gasification technology to convert biomass into a clean syngas to be used in a gas to liquids (Fischer-Tropsch) process to produce feedstock for renewable diesel from biomass/wood residue-based gas. The gasification and syngas cleaning system is part of NSE’s new-generation renewable diesel demonstration plant at Stora Enso’s Varkaus Mill in Finland.
Stora Enso considers Russian mill

tora Enso has started a feasibility study for an integrated pulp and paper mill in the Nizhny Novgorod region in Russia. The feasibility study, which is expected to be completed by April 2009, will evaluate the profitability of the project to manufacture paper for Russian consumers from Russian wood in Russia.

lack & Veatch will provide project management and engineering services for a 4800 MW power generation facility being built by Eskom in Johannesburg, South Africa. Eskom, South Africa’s state-owned electric utility, will use Black & Veatch to assist with engineering services and supervising construction of six-800 MW units that will comprise Project Bravo, a 4800 MW supercritical coal-fired generation facility. Project Bravo is scheduled to be completed in stages with the first unit coming online in 2012 and the final unit in 2015.

oodside Energy Ltd has awarded services contracts for two proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) developments in Australia to TCF, an Australian joint venture betwen Technip, Chiyoda and Fluor.
The two separate contracts cover an onshore plant development study, as part of the selection process of a design concept for the Browse LNG Development, located off Broome, Western Australia, and the preparation of a basis of design for a proposed second processing train for the Pluto LNG project, in Australia’s Burrup Peninsula.
Saipem awarded 2 offshore contracts worth US$600mn

aipem has won two new offshore contracts in Egypt and Angola together worth US$600 million. The first contract was awarded by the Burullus Gas Co for the subsea development of the Sequoia field, which is located offshore from the Nile River Delta, about 130 kms northeast of Alexandria, Egypt. The contract covers the engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of the subsea development system of the Sequoia field, and a new 22” gas-export pipeline. The work will be completed in the second half of 2009. The second contract, awarded by Total E&P Angola, is for the Block 17 gas export project consisting of exporting Block 17 gas to Block 2 area for injection into two oil depleted reservoirs located off the Angolan shore, about 230 kms northwest of Luanda. Saipem’s work includes engineering, procurement, fabrication, transportation and installation of a new injection platform, to be installed in the Block 2 area. The marine activities will be carried out by Saipem in the second half of 2009.

hell Exploration Company BV and Australia’s Arrow Energy Ltd have signed a preliminary agreement to jointly develop projects to extract clean-burning natural gas from coal deposits in Australia, China, Indonesia, Vietnam and India. Shell will acquire a 30% interest in Arrow’s coal seam gas (CSG) acreage in Queensland, Australia, as well as a 10% stake in Arrow International, which holds Arrow’s international interests in CSG opportunities.
