FW plays EPC role at Zeeland Refinery

F

oster Wheeler has been awarded a contract by Zeeland Refinery NV, a joint venture between Total and LUKOIL, for engineering, procurement assistance and construction management assistance for the upgrade of the distillate hydrocracker at the Zeeland Refinery located at Vlissingen, the Netherlands. The project is designed to maximise the throughput of the distillate hydrocracker by debottlenecking the unit’s reaction and fractionation sections of the distillate hydrocracker. Foster Wheeler’s work on the refinery is expected to be completed by June 2014.

SNC-Lavalin awarded EPCM contract for Chilean mine

M

inera Antucoya SA, a subsidiary of Antofagasta Minerals SA (AMSA), has selected SNC-Lavalin to provide overall management, detailed engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for the Antucoya project in Chile. Antucoya will produce approximately 80 000 tonnes of copper per year, and involve processing facilities that employ crushing, leaching, solvent extraction and electrowinning technologies. The SNC-Lavalin contract includes overall management and integration of four process 4

packages to be executed by other firms, as well as EPCM services for the detailed engineering, procurement and construction management of the balance of plant, which includes roads, camps, utilities, power distribution and other key infrastructure elements. Detailed engineering will start immediately at SNC-Lavalin’s Santiago office, and initial infrastructure works are already in progress at the site. The project is scheduled for mechanical completion in 2014.

Industrial City being developed by a joint venture of Qatar Petroleum and Shell. The two-train MEG facility, based on Shell’s OMEGA technology, is planned to produce 1.5 million tonnes per annum of MEG. Foster Wheeler was the front-end engineering design and engineering, procurement and construction management contractor for Shell’s OMEGA-based MEG plant on Singapore’s Jurong Island which opened in 2009.

acobs Engineering Group Inc is to develop a basic engineering package for three sulfur recovery units (SRUs) for PETRONAS, the state-owned oil company of Malaysia. PETRONAS’ new, three-train sulfur plant is part of the Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) Project site in the state of Johor, Malaysia. Through RAPID, PETRONAS is establishing an optimally configured, integrated refinery and petrochemical complex that will produce high, value-added petrochemicals. This involves building a refinery to supply naphtha and to produce gasoline and diesel that meet European clean fuels specifications. The petrochemical complex is designed and developed to produce ethylene and olefins that are used in downstream plants to produce petrochemical derivatives.

FW undertakes basic engineering for MEG facility in Qatar

oster Wheeler has won a Shell Global Solutions International BV contract to develop a basic engineering package for a worldscale mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) facility at Ras Laffan, Qatar. The MEG facility will be part of a new petrochemicals complex in Ras Laffan

NPEX Corp has awarded Technip an offshore commissioning contract, worth approximately E210 million, for the Ichthys LNG Project located in Western Australia’s Browse Basin. An integrated team will work on all activities related to the preparation and execution of the offshore commissioning for the floating, production, storage and offloading unit and the central processing facility. Technip’s operating centre in Perth, Australia will execute the contract starting immediately. The first gas from the Ichthys LNG Project is scheduled for delivery in 2016.

FW to supply CFB steam generator to South Korea

A

Foster Wheeler AG subsidiary is to design and supply a circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) steam generator for an industrial complex in Yeosu City, South Korea. Foster Wheeler will design and supply the 60 MWe (gross megawatt electric) CFB steam generator as well as auxiliary equipment and provide site advisory services for Yeosu Cogeneration Corp. The CFB steam generator will burn coal while meeting all applicable environmental standards. Commercial operation of the new steam generator is scheduled for the first quarter of 2015.
