Technip wins Polish refinery contract

T

echnip has been awarded a lumpsum turnkey contract worth approximately 472 million by Grupa Lotos SA for the Gdansk Refinery in Poland. This is the third contract signed by Technip in Poland in the last few months, reinforcing the presence of the group in the country. The contract covers the engineering, procurement, and construction of a new 45 000 barrels per stream day mild hydrocracking unit, based on Shell technology. Lotos plans to increase the capacity of the Gdansk refinery by approximately 75%, bringing it to 10.5 million tonnes of crude oil per year. The project is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Jacobs renews refinery contract

J

acobs Engineering Group Inc has received a 2-year renewal of its contract with Total Raffinerie Mitteldeutschland GmbH to provide engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services at Total’s refinery at Spergau in Eastern Germany. Jacobs will continue performing the work from its office in Schkopau, Germany, near the refinery site. The Spergau facility, which has a capacity of 11 million tons per year, is the newest grassroots refinery in Europe.

KBR wins Algerian LNG contract

K

BR has been awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the Sonatrach Skikda LNG project, to be constructed at Skikda, Algeria. The contract has an approximate value of US$2.8 billion. In addition to performing the EPC work for the 4.5 million metric tons per annum LNG train along with associated LPG and

condensate recovery, KBR will execute the pre-commissioning and commissioning portion of the contract. Work will be executed in Houston prior to moving to the Skikda site.

Canadian oil extraction plant contract awarded

J

acobs has received a contract from Aux Sable Canada LP and NOVA Chemicals for the engineering, procurement and construction management of the extraction plant proposed for Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada. The proposed extraction plant will have the capacity to process as much as 1.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day from the Alliance pipeline, and will produce approximately 40 000 barrels per day of ethane. The extraction plant will be owned and operated by Aux Sable Canada LP, with the ethane delivered via pipeline to NOVA Chemicals’ Joffre, Alberta petrochemical complex for use as a feedstock in the production of ethylene. Engineering work began in March and facility start-up is expected in mid-2010.

Onshore pipeline contract

aipem has been awarded a new onshore contract in Nigeria worth approximately US$210 million. Shell Petroleum Development Co of Nigeria awarded Saipem the contract for the construction, installation and commissioning of a 30-inch onshore pipeline system, in Bayelsa and Rivers States, connecting the San Bartholomew Manifold to the Cawthorne Channel Junction Manifold Trunkline, spanning a total length of 46 kms. The contract also covers the decommissioning of the existing 28-inch pipeline and related facilities. Work will be completed by the third quarter of 2008.
