ealth care organizations rely on strong nursing leadership to improve health care and create and sustain healthful work environments.Yet, these organizations are facing unprecedented workforce shortages impacting nursing at all levels—from staff nurses to executive leaders. The mantle of executive level nurse leadership will be worn by the nurse managers of today. The complexity of health care organizations, care delivery and challenges resulting from a diminishing workforce demand innovative, highly qualified and dedicated nurse leaders. These nurse leaders serve at the front lines, where care delivery, the workforce and the work environment meet. The AONE Nurse Manager Fellowship is a year-long professional development program designed to provide an in-depth environment of learning. The fellowship incorporates AONE’s work with the Nurse Manager Leadership Partnership (NMLP) and its development of the NMLP's Learning Domain Framework. Faculty for the program includes renowned nurse leaders and experts in nursing leadership and management. The curriculum is built upon: The Science: Managing the Business—financial and human resource management, performance improvement, foundational thinking skills, technology and strategic management The Art: Leading and Managing the People—leadership skills, relationship management and influencing behaviors, diversity and shared decision making
