Germany’s ItN Nanovation AG is cutting its workforce at the company’s headquarters in Saarbrücken by 20–30 people. The job losses are part of ItN Nanovation’s ongoing corporate reorganization. The move should generate an annual cost reduction in the seven-digit range. The short time work at the production plant in Halberstadt, which had been agreed until the end of February, will now last until 31 August 2009. ashington, Tyne and Wear, UK-based Walker Filtration has received a £150 000 grant from investment agency One North East to help fund a £650 000 expansion project at the filtration company. The money will go towards growing the business, investing in advanced production line machinery, improving product development and increasing marketing. The expansion at Walker Filtration will create 26 jobs. Company director and group general manager, Lianne Walker, said: “This expansion and recruitment of new employees will help the company meet aggressive growth targets we have set ourselves for the next three years. We are a global company with customers and distributors in America, Australia, South Africa, Europe and the Far and Middle East. Our determination and drive for the business to succeed and grow is very much behind the expansion project.” Established in 1983, Walker Filtration is a family owned business employing 127 people. PGI plans to repurchase bank debt

onwovens specialist Polymer Group Inc’s (PGI) board of directors has authorized the company, through its subsidiaries, to

purchase up to US$70 million of its outstanding senior secured credit facility as allowed under the provisions of its credit agreement. PGI’s senior secured credit facility consists of a US$45 million revolving credit facility and a first lien term loan with an outstanding balance of US$367.2 million as of 27 September 2008. The company, through its subsidiaries, intends to make market purchases of up to US$70 million of its first lien term loan over the next two years. Purchased term loans will be held by one or more of the company’s subsidiaries and will not be retired. The successful repurchase of the debt will result in an effective reduction of consolidated indebtedness as measured and defined in the company’s credit agreement. Newpoint Gas gains exclusive rights to use UOP technology in US and Canada

OP LLC has signed an agreement with Newpoint Gas LP to exclusively use UOP Separex membrane technology in the design of specific gas treating plants in Canada and the US. The agreement gives Newpoint Gas exclusive rights to offer Separex technology as part of its design and fabrication of defined gas processing plants for Canadian and US customers. UOP’s Separex technology upgrades natural gas streams by removing carbon dioxide and water vapour. “As demand for natural gas grows worldwide, processors increasingly need reliable, compact, efficient and low-cost treating solutions,” said Peter Piotrowski, senior vice president of UOP’s Process Technology and Equipment business. “This agreement brings together proven UOP technology with Newpoint’s outstanding design and fabricating experience to provide North American customers the best option to meet their needs.” UOP LLC, headquartered in Des Plaines, Illinois, USA, is an international supplier and licensor of process technology, catalysts, adsorbents, process plants, and consulting services to the petroleum refining, petro-
