The conference will be devoted to various aspects of mathematical application in chemistry with special emphasis on the following topics: Graph theory Combinatorics Information theory Mathematical modeling Non-numerical methods in chemistry Topology - Chemometrics and coding of chemical structures Computational chemistry Other topics relevant to mathematical chemistry Contributions in other relevant areas are also welcome. The program will consist of a series of keynote and plenary lectures, followed by presentation of posters. English will be the official language. Keynote speakers include: Professor Jeremy K. Burdett (Chicago), Professor Nicolaos D. Epiotis (Seattle), Professor William C. Herndon (El Paso), and Dr. Jerome Karle (1985 Nobelist; US Navy). The full text of invited lectures, contributed papers and posters will be published in a volume of conference proceedings. 1993 Gordon Research Conference on Statistics in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering New Hampton School, New Hampton, NH, USA, 29-30 July 1993 This conference, which has met annually since 1951, brings together researchers and practitioners in the fields of statistics, chemistry and chemical engineering in a relaxed and informal setting. The objective of the Gordon Research Conferences is to explore the ‘frontiers of science’. Participants will discuss new developments in statistical methodology and new applications of statistics to chemistry and chemical engineering. There are two talks each day with the exception of Friday, with extended time for open discussion after each formal presentation. There are also round-table discussions and a poster session which will give attendees the opportunity to post recent research results, and to discuss these with others at designated times. The 1993 Conference will feature nine eminent speakers and discussants who are doing frontier research in the areas of the conference. Through a generous donation from the Statistics Division of the American Society of Quality Control, approximately six grants are

available to pay for the registration, lodging and food for beginning researchers (the usual cost is US$430). These grants are available to individuals who have received their highest degree since May 1990 or who are still in school and who are involved in research in statistics, chemistry, or chemical engineering, or some combination of these. Preference will be given to individuals who also apply to present research results in the contributed paper poster session. information, For further please contact the Conference Chair: Roger W.
