PATENT ABSTRACTS

4692404 METHOD OF MEASURING BIOLOGICAL LIGAND BY THE USE OF ENZYMES Yoshihiro Ashihara, Yasushi Kasahara, Tokyo, Japan assigned to Fujirebio Kabushiki Kaisha A method is provided which is highly sensitive and specific, and is suitable as a clinical test for the determination of physiological substances and trace components in humoral fluid. The method employs a conjugate of an enzyme capable of acting on a water-insoluble macromolecular substance and an antibody against the ligand (1) to be measured or a ligand (2) having an antigenic determinant common to one of the antigenic determinant(s) of the ligand (1). In the method of the invention, steric hindrance of the conjugate is emphasized by the enzyme reaction which is carried out at the boundary between solid phase and liquid phase.

4692413 USE OF RLDM£198 +0 1+14 6 AND OTHER LIGNINOLYTIC ENZYMES FOR THE DECOLORIZATION O F E1 EFFLUENT

A reagent for use in a £37 sandwich+38 + 0 enzyme-immunoassay comprising a polymer of a bioactive substance-specific antibody:enzyme conjugate, wherein said antibody is conjugated to said enzyme by means of heterobifunctional cross-linking agent and a +37 sandwich+38 + 0 enzyme-immunoassay employing the polymer. + RE

4693977 ENZYME IMMOBILIZATION FOR PRODUCING CEPHALOSPORIN ANTIBIOTICS Saul Wolfe, Donald Westlake, Susan Jensen, Kingston, Canada assigned to Queen£3 s University at Kingston Enzymes extracted from a prokaryotic £62 lactam producing microorganism are immobilized on a support for producing desacetoxycephalosporin and analogs thereof from L- + 60 -aminoadipyl-L-cysteinyl-D-valine and analogs thereof. The enzymes are an epimerase, a cyelase and a ring expansion enzyme extracted preferably from + I S. clavuligerus, S. cattleya + L or + I S. lipmanii. + L The support is preferably a diethylaminoethyl ion exchange resin. + RE

Roberta L Farrell assigned to Repligen Corporation Disclosed is a novel process for decolorization of El effluent. Specifically, novel enzymes, designated rLDM£198 , and other ligninolytic enzymes present in the extracellular growth medium from a fermentation of + I Phanerochaete chrysosporium, + L are used to decolorize the effluent. + RE

4693969 REAGENT FOR USE IN A SANDWICH SOLID-PHASE ENZYME-IMMUNOASSAY AND PROCESS FOR EMPLOYING SAME Brij B Saxena, Premila Rathnam assigned to Cornell Research Foundation Inc

4695541 ENZYMATIC DETECTION OF BACTERIAL CAPSULAR POLYSACCHARIDE ANTIGENS Peter W Taylor assigned to Molecular Diagnostics Inc A substantially pure enzyme which hydrolyzes a polymer containing an £60 + 0 2,8-1inked Nacetyl neuraminic acid is obtained from K1specific bateriophages and used for assays of bacterial polysaccharides in samples such as cerebrospinal fluid for testing for various disorders such as bacterial meningitis, septicemia, bacteremia, and the like. The enzyme may also be used therapeutically in treating such disorders by attacking cells which have an increased level of a polymer containing an + 60 + 0 2, 8-1inked N-acetyl neuraminic acid. + RE
