ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SYSTEM FOR POULTRY HOUSES

Charles Allen Michael Timmons assigned to Cornell Research Foundation Inc

A shield made of high impact polyurethane plastic, molded in two half sections which can be fitted over the base portion of a tree trunk where it widens into the soil. The shield includes anchors for a bottom flange and provides for enlarging a top, flange defined hole. The facing edges of the half sections accommodate molded locking connectors in enlarged or swollen portions.

Method and apparatus for controlling environmental conditions in an animal house, and particularly in a poultry house, for producing maximum economic return. The static parameters of the house are determined, and thereafter continuous measurements are made of current inside and outside temperatures. The operator makes periodic assessments of litter condition in the house, and adjusts the target 24hour average relative humidity to produce the desired litter condition. The system controls the heating and ventilation system to obtain the desired 24-hour average relative humidity while maintaining the optimum temperature conditions in the house for maximum economic return.

4700661 SWINE FARROWING

SYSTEM

John D Lawson A one sided creep area farrowing crate fabricated principally from flat material, sheet metal, plastic, wood, etc., has a molded sow pen entrance door with integral rump guard and a longitudinal sheet metal barrier separating the sow pen from the litter creep area while allowing nursing due to the elevation of the sheet metal barrier above the floor surface. Adjacent pairs of farrowing crates may be arranged back to back so as to share a common sow pen wall. With this arrangement a significant floor space reduction is achieved and the mother sow is forced to lie always on the same one side when nursing. Other floor plans may accomplish the same space saving features with this one side creep area, such as the single sow system described herein, or the linear row (side exit) system.
