PATENT clonal antibodies, such as ATCC HB-9311, which recognize the base excision repair pathway enzyme uracil DNA glycosylase from norma1 healthy individuals and individuals afflicted with genetic syndromes, but fails to recognize uracil- DNA glycosylase from individuals afflicted with Bloom’s Syndrome.

4818689 LATE DIFFERENTIATION ANTIGEN ASSOCIATED WITH HELPER T LYMPHOCYTE FUNCTION Nicole Suciu-Foca, Donald W King assigned to The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York A late differentiation antigen (LDAI) expressed by activated helper cells is described. LDA 1 is a membrane protein recognized by a monoclonal antibody produced by immunizing mice with an alloreactive human T cell clone with helper function. LDAI is expressed by helper T cells optionally 9 days after activation. Anti-LDAI monoclonal antibody blocks T cell enhancement of B-cell immunoglobulin production. Thus, LDAl is associated with helper T cell effector function, Methods of diagnosis and therapy based upon LDAI are also described.

4818694 PRODUCTION OF HERPES SIMPLEX VIRAL PROTEIN Roger J Watson, John W Weis, Lynn W Enquist assigned to American Cyanamid Company Methods and composition are provided for the cloning and expression of a Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) glycoprotein (gD) gene in singlecell host organisms. Also described are methods for culturing these novel single-cell organisms to produce the HSV-gene product. The HSV gDrelated polypeptide produced by the recombinant DNA techniques described herein may be formulated for use as an immunogen in a vaccine to protect against HSV-I and HSV-2 infection.

4818696 RHIZOBIUM JAPONICUM SYMBIOSIS GENE TRANSFER Edward R Appelbaum, Thomas J McLaughlin, Michael P O’Connell assigned to Lubrizol Genetics Inc A symbiosis plasmid from a fast-growing Rhizobium japonicum donor strain can be transferred to Rhizobium recipient strains, the recipient strains being previously incapable of forming an effective symbiotic relationship with plants of certain Glycine (e.g. soybean) varieties. The recipient strains harboring the symbiosis plasmid will form effective symbioses with soybean plants of said certain varieties, the transferred svmbiosis olasmid conferrine the host range or specificity of the donor strain on the recipient strains. Methods, strains, and plasmids useful for practice of this invention are also provided.

4818700 PICHIA PASTORIS ARGININOSUCCINATE LYASE GENE AND USES THEREOF James M Cregg, George Sperl assigned to Phillips Petroleum Company Novel DNA sequences which code for the production of the Pichia protein argininosuccinate lyase are provided. Novel constructs including these sequences, as well as organisms transformed therewith are provided. In addition, novel strains of Pichia defective in argninosuccinate lyase activity are also provided.
