5485833 BREATH EXPOSURE SYNCHRONIZER Dietz Henry G Garden City, NY, 11530, UNITED STATES Breath Exposure Synchronizer senses respiratory activity and indicates when it is the proper time to expose X-ray film to prevent blurring of radiographs due to voluntary motion of breathing. It indicates inhalation, when the breath is held, exhalation, and acts as a monitor to detect breathing in humans and animals. When used with Magnetic Resonance Imaging, it has the advantage of having no electrical connections to the patient. Electrical currents can be induced in electrical connections by the radio frequency magnetic fields used during imaging that can be harmful. Breathing is detected by a single use nasal cannula sensor.

5485839 METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ULTRASONIC WAVE MEDICAL TREATMENT USING COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY Aida Satoshi; Shibata Mariko; Fujimoto Katsuhik; Ishibashi Yoshiharu; Suzuki Takuji; Sato Kozo; Itoh Ayao Tokyo, JAPAN Assigned to Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba An ultrasonic wave medical treatment in which the position of the focal point of the ultrasonic waves, the temperature in a vicinity of the object to be treated, and the effect of the treatment can be determined easily and accurately. The three-dimensional image information of the object to be treated obtained by a computed tomography device is utilized in locating the focal point. In case of using a nuclear magnetic resonance imaging device as the computed tomography device, the T2 weighted image and the chemical shift data can be used in checking the effect of the treatment and the temperature in a vicinity of the object. The endocavitary probe equipped with temperature and intensity sensors may also be used. The ultrasound tomographic images obtained by the ultrasound tomographic imaging device may also be used in

conjunction with the three-dimensional image information. Sequential shifting of the focal point of the ultrasonic waves may be employed to reduce adverse influence due to the cavitation.

5486761 NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE MEASURING APPARATUS Sezginer Abdurrahma Brookfield, CT, UNITED STATES Assigned to Schlumberger Technology Corporation The disclosure invention is directed to a nuclear magnetic resonance measurement apparatus that can be utilized in a logging device which operates generally centrally in a borehole, and has a generally circumferential region of investigation, but which permits usage of relatively powerful permanent magnets, such as rare-earth magnets, that are not permeable to the RF magnetic field. This is achieved by employing side-by-side spaced apart elongated magnets, and an RF current loop in the region between the magnets. In a disclosed embodiment, the magnets are each in the shape of a segment of a cylinder, and the respective axes of elongation of the magnets are parallel. The magnets have respective casings with electrically conductive surfaces, and the RF current loop includes at least a portion of the conductive surfaces of the magnet casings.
