An improved nozzle arrangement for use in a cooling zone of a rolling mill is formed completely of plastic, preferably ABS plastic, and includes an elongated, substantially cylindrical hollow body portion that defines an longitudinally extending conduit having a cooling fluid intake port that smoothly converges into an internal flow channel of an integrally formed head portion that is provided with a cooling fluid outlet port. An elongated baffle member is positioned within the cylindrical body portion and extends substantially the entire length thereof. The baffle member itself is formed of a unitary plastic member, also preferably ABS plastic, and has a X-shaped cross-section. Constructing the nozzle of plastic saves considerable replacement costs associated with the use of such nozzles in rolling mills and also enables the nozzles to be recycled. In addition, due to the specific construction of the nozzle, laminar flow is assured which enhances its cooling function.

GLUE INJECTOR AND THE PROCESS OF INJECTION Chen Hsi, Chung Ho City, Taipei Hsien, CHINA (TAIWAN) The present invention relates to a glue injector for repairing the cracks on concrete and the process of injection, especially in that the glue in the injector is pushed by the gaseous pressure of carbon dioxide produced by the reaction of chemical decomposition into the crack of concrete. An aqueous solution of citric acid is arranged in the pressure chamber on the top of the injector in this invention, a sodium bicarbonate tablet is placed into the pressure chamber through the aperture thereon, and carbon dioxide gas is gradually released by the reaction of chemical decomposition caused by mixing these two media. The increasing gaseous pressure is used to push the piston in the injector, and push the glue in front of the piston into the crack.

METHOD OF RECYCLING CARPET FORMING COMPONENTS FROM WASTE CARPET

A vertical shaft furnace for melting non-ferrous metals, such as copper, aluminum, and their alloys, includes metal blocks disposed in an annular wall just beneath the charging section of the furnace. Preheated air is forced into the furnace shaft through openings in the wall of metal blocks to burn or oxidize substantially all the CO gas contained in the combustion gases rising from the melting chamber of the furnace. A pressurized plenum surrounding the shaft adjacent the charge opening is used to preheat ambient air which is then supplied under pressure to another plenum above the melting chamber where the preheated air is introduced into the shaft.

Sharer Paul C , Greenville, SC, UNITED STATES assigned to JPS Automotive Products Corp A system for separating and packaging carpet forming fibrous material and backing material from carpet pieces for recycling. The system comprises a shredding apparatus for separating carpet pieces into substantially even sized small pieces of between two inches by two inches and four inches by four inches. These pieces are passed to a granulating apparatus which slices them into smaller pieces of between one-quarter inch and one-half inch which causes the fibrous material and backing material to begin to separate. A surge apparatus receives the partially separated materials and delivers them in an even manner to an elutriator. The elutriator using an upper air delivery system for carrying off the fibrous material and a lower air delivery system for carrying off the backing material delivers the separated materials to storage apparatus which readies the separated materials for recycling.

5518222 NOZZLE ARRANGEMENT FOR USE IN A COOLING ZONE OF ROLLING MILL

Thermoplastic resin powders of cellulose acetate esters in which essentially 80% or more of the particles pass through a 100 mesh screen (U.S. Sieve Series) and essentially 50% pass through a 200 mesh screen (U.S. Sieve Series) are desirable and useful as a filler material for investment casting waxes. The cellulosic thermoplastics resin powders

are environmentally safe when used as filler material for investment casting wax compositions since the powders produce essentially no carcinogenic materials on combustion. The powders are as effective as acid fillers and set relatively fast thus improving cycle time in the die but do not produce an adverse effect of shell cracking nor react with the slurry.

contacting the product of step (a), at a pH of about 4-8.5, with an effective amount of Na2C03 to convert at least some metal ions of +2 valence to metal carbonate precipitates and form at least some dissolved sodium salts; (c) recovering, from a portion of the product from step (b) that is not recycled, metal carbonates, metal hydroxides, and sodium salts.

5518583 ZERO DISCHARGE MILL DISTILLATION, SALT RECOVERY, AND WATER MANAGEMENT Nykanep Tuomo S; Greenwood Brian F; Gullichsen Joha; Kiiskil@kk, Mattelmaki Esko; Phillips Joseph R; Richardsen Jan T; Ryham Rolf; Soderman Jarmo; Wikluad Karl G, Glens Falls, NY, UNlTED STATES assigned to A Ahlstrom Corporation In minimizing effluents from a cellulose pulp mill, liquid effluents from a bleach plant are concentrated, and then incinerated to produce a residue including sodium, sulfate, and sodium chloride. This residue is distilled with sulfuric acid to produce gaseous hydrogen chloride and remaining residue, the HCl being used in chloride dioxide production for the bleach plant, while the remaining residue is passed to the recovery loop (e.g. recovery boiler). Sulfur containing gases from the non-condensible gas system may be combusted to produce gaseous sulfur dioxide, which is then converted to sulfuric acid, to distill the residue. Where a non-chlorine bleach plant is provided, the liquid effluents may be concentrated in evaporators and then passed directly to the recovery boiler. The liquid streams in the mill are managed by a cascade principle to reserve the cleanest water for only those processes where it is needed while minimizing its use where it is not necessary.
