Powder Coatings for Interior Coating of Cosmetics Tubs A process for the coating of the interior of cosmetics tubs with powder coatings has been awarded second place research prize of The Surface 2015 (Die Oberflaeche 2015) which awarded by the German FraunhoferInstitut fuer Produktionstechnik und Automatisierung (IPA). The process has been jointly developed by tin manufacturer Tubex and powder coatings manufacturer Tiger Coatings. Tubex supplies powder-coated tubs to customers in the cosmetics and health care segment, including German company Beiersdorf (Nivea brand). The jointly developed process named Powder Can Coating represents a green alternative to conventional surface coatings of aluminium tins by using environment-friendlier powder coatings. The key technology consists of the thin layer application which enables a high flexibility, precision and optimal material consumption. Advantages include a reduction in energy costs. The powder coatings are free from volatile organic compounds, have a low carbon footprint, exhibit a good resistance to chemicals and have almost pore-free layers.
