K-Tron has introduced new compact filtered vacuum conveyors to meet growing demand for smaller powder conveyors. The company says that the MKl self-contained vacuum loader offers rates up to 32Okg/hr (7OOlb/hr). The MKl central unit can convey up to 6OOkglhr (13OOlb/hr). Both units use the HurricaneTM DualCyclone daFign, which separates up to 99% of particles from the incoming air stream in the first cyclone. The remaining fines are removed by a second cyclone and an integral 0.3micron PTFE pleated cartridge filter. The airflow of the Hurricane design self cleans the filter. The company adds that a by-product of the filter design is a significant saving in installation, maintenance and replacement costs. Up to 67% less filter area is required, claims K-Tron, than in conventional

pneumatic systems, reducing costs and lowering headroom requirements by up to 40%. Loaders and receivers are often located where the filter is not easily accessible, therefore reducing the frequency that filters need removing and cleaning saves labour costs and reduces down time. K-Tron adds that the ease of removing and handling the Hurricane compact filter offers further savings. The units are available in stainless steel or ~uminium and can be supplied as single loaders or complete engineered central systems. K-Tron is a global manuf+acturec of feeders, pneumatic conveying systems and related equipment for the handling of bulk solids. Cotltact:
