he fourth edition of Orthodontics: Current Principles and Techniques, authored by Graber, Vanarsdall, and Vig, improves upon its previous editions by providing up to date research results and covering simple to highly advanced case discussions that highlight current concepts and treatment methods used in contemporary orthodontics. It is a state of the art presentation, with text and excellent supporting photos throughout, from 40 contributing world-class academic leaders, practitioners, and researchers. The editors include 28 chapters divided into two sections which balance diagnosis and treatment planning with techniques and treatment. Chapters include ‘‘Special Considerations in Diagnosis and Treatment Planning,’’ ‘‘Craniofacial Imaging in Orthodontics,’’ ‘‘Genetics and Orthodontics,’’ ‘‘The Upper Airway and Cranial Morphology,’’ ‘‘Tissue Reactions in Orthodontics,’’ ‘‘Biomaterials in Orthodontics,’’ ‘‘Functional Appliances,’’ ‘‘Treating Patients of Mixed Dentition,’’ ‘‘Periodontal-Ortho Interrelationships,’’ and ‘‘Retention and Relapse’’—just to name a few. It would be difficult to imagine that there is a topic related to orthodontics in the 21st century that is not covered in this book. The presentation of the material is well organized and easy to follow, giving general information on core topics which are then followed by more specific details. As a current orthodontic resident, this book is an invaluable aid to my education, and at 1,232 pages, it

Ravinda Nanda, along with 20 world-renowned contributors, successfully authored a comprehensive textbook dedicated to diagnosis, treatment planning, and biomechanics in orthodontics emphasizing the goal of improving facial esthetics.
