Broom and Tool Holder,-:lt t,l~o last, meeting of the Znsditute. there was exhibited a simple ;intl ingenic)us cant rivance for the above purpose, devised by Mr. .Jolrn G. I’owt?lI, and manufactured by Frank S. Judd & Co., of tllis c,ity. It consists ot‘ n soit metal socket, cast upon an ordinary wood screw, with a piece of steel wire so bent and inserted as to clasp and hold securely any object, such as a broom or tool-handle, pressed into its grasp. The manner in which tllc wire, by a series of bends, is made to fulfil the various ofices of securing itsell’ in the socket, grasping the handle, and springing sufficiently to clasp objects of various size, is deserving of high commendation, as also is the structure of the mould in which the sockets are cast, which involves several important f;:atures or’ ad,justment. The accompanying cut shows one of these holders in position, with a handle of a clothesbe supposed brush in it. It must not, however, that a depression in the handle is requisite. It will hold a stmight wooden broom-handle just as well.
