The 6th International Symposium on Fish Endocrinology (6ISFE) will be held in Calgary, Canada in June 22-26, 2008. Information about the 6ISFE can be obtained from the conference website” http://www.isfe.ucalgary.ca” which will be up-dated on a regular basis. The deadline for abstract submission and early registration will be on February 15, 2008. The conference will be held at the University of Calgary which is about one hour from the Banff National Park. The scientific program will include three plenary speakers, as well as, a number of invited symposium speakers. More than half of the symposium speakers will be selected by the session organizers from the submitted abstracts to be presented in the following scientific sessions: 1. Endocrine-immune interactions in fish 2. Steroid/Thyroid receptor structure and function 3. Signal Transduction 4. Endocrine aspects of behaviour 5. Endocrine disruptors and ecotoxicity 6. Evolution and Origin of the Peptide hormones structure and function 7. Endocrine regulation of feeding and growth in fish. 8. Paracrine and autocrine control of fish hormone secretion and function 9. Endocrine control of ion and osmoregulation 10. Sex determination and control of gonadal differentiation in fish 11. Molecular endocrinology of stress in fish 12. Functional Genomic in fish 13. Hypothalamic regulation of pituitary function 14. Aquatic Biotechnology related to fish endocrinology There will also be two poster sessions covering the topics outlined above, as well as, other topics on fish endocrinology. In addition, there will be a number of workshops associated with the 6ISFE on June 22nd. We invite proposal for workshops in the area of Fish endocrinology at the 6ISFE. Please submit your proposals for consideration of the Scientific Committee and include a full description, rational, potential source of funding, and a suggested list of participants. Deadline for submission of workshop proposal will be November 15, 2007. The organizing committee invites nomination to recognize lifetime achievement of distinguished fish endocrinologists who have retired within the past six years (see the website for full detail). Following the main meeting, a full-day satellite symposium will be held as a Tribute to Dr. Richard E. (Dick) Peter on Friday June 27th. We also invite you to participate in this satellite symposium.
