The burden of chronic neurological disorders is escalating worldwide due to an increasing burden of chronic non-communicable diseases and an ageing world population. Neurological disorders including stroke and dementia constitute the leading cause of disability worldwide with most of the burden residing in low and middle income countries (LMIC). One of the major goals of the World Health Organization Rehabilitation 2030 is to facilitate universal access to rehabilitation and recovery in individuals suffering from neurological and other disabilities worldwide. This is critical to achieving the third Sustainable Development Goal (Health). However, the LMIC conundrum by which countries with the least resources bear the highest burden of disease, is a rate limiting step particularly in the most underserved region: subSaharan Africa. To break this barrier calls for adaptations of technologies from high income countries and development of new cost-effective and pragmatic locally available solutions. Therefore, the first Blossom Center- World Federation for Neurorehabilitation conference was held in March 2017 with the theme ‘Neurorehabilitation in Africa: Adaptations and Innovations’. This special issue of the eNeurologicalSci the Open Access Journal of the World Federation of Neurology will feature articles from the afore-mentioned maiden conference and high quality manuscripts addressing adaptations and innovations of cost -effective solutions for neurological rehabilitation in low and middle income settings across the globe. Clinicians and researchers are invited to submit original articles,in-depth reviews (preferably systematic reviews or meta-

analyses), and remarkable case reports that will provide new insight and pragmatic solutions for rehabilitation and recovery in
