Celebrating the past and the future August 2005 House of Lords Reception London UK April 8th The House of Lords was the venue for an evening reception to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the publication of Complementary Therapies in Nursing and Midwifery, published by Elsevier. The event, hosted by Lord Chan of Oxton and Lord Ward-Atherton, on behalf of the Editor-in-Chief, Denise Rankin-Box and Elsevier also served to relaunch the journal under its new title Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice. The new title is a reflection of the increasing success of the journal over the last decade and interest in the journal from a wide range of health care professionals. Around 100 guests attended the event and included many leaders of complementary therapies, organisations and national bodies promoting the professional use of CIM in the UK. Best wishes were also sent from the actresses Kim Cattrall and Julie Walters as well as Jonnie walker of BBC Radio 2. Professor Ernst and Dr. George Lewith also sent their best regards. Michael Fox, Chief Executive of His Royal Highness Prince of Wales Foundation for Integrated Health (POWFIH) was guest speaker and highlighted both past achievements of the last 10 years in the

field of CIM as well as current and future objectives in promoting integrated health care in the UK. We were delighted to see so many people at the reception who have been pivotal in developing integrated medicine within health care. The event formed a reunion of old friends and formation of new and exciting links across healthcare professions. In particular it highlighted the journal as influential in promoting complementary therapies in clinical practice. We are certain that the next 10 years will ensure that the international standing of Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice will grow rapidly and continue to be a major catalyst for high quality professional CIM practice. The event was kindly sponsored by the following companies who have been influential in promoting CIM and we were very grateful to them for their generous support: BioPathica Ltd., Boiron, Breakspear Medical Group, the British Academy of Western Medical Acupuncture, Cambridge Nutritional Sciences Ltd., The Cheiron Trust, DOT Medical Ltd., Expectancy Ltd., Harehill Park Ltd., Helios Homeopathy Ltd., Institute for Complementary Medicine, International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology and Nelsonbach.
