Conference on disaster mitigation concerning earthquake and tsunami, Istanbul, Turkey on June 22–24, 2009 Dear Colleague, The World Council of Civil Engineers, the European Council of Civil Engineers and the Turkish Chamber of Civil Engineers are jointly organising a conference on disaster mitigation concerning earthquake and tsunami to be held in Istanbul, Turkey on June 22–24, 2009. The major objective of the Joint Conference is to contribute to the mitigation of life and material losses in earthquake and tsunami through improved civil engineering practice. The emphasis of the conference will be on the Millennium Development Goals. Please see the attached first circular and call for papers and the web page (www.imo.org.tr/eqt2009) for details. Considering your interest in these subjects, you are invited to participate and contribute to the Conference where distinguished experts of the earthquake and tsunami area will be coming together and sharing their experience and expertise. Besides, the participants will also be able to enjoy a few days in the charming city of Istanbul. Your participation in the Conference will be most appreciated.
