General Information VENUE This year’s Congress will be held in the Royal Concert Hall, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow. The Concert Hall is situated about five minutes’ walk from Queen Street Station and 15 minutes from Central Station. There is an NCP car park immediately opposite the Concert Hall in Killermont Street, next to Buchanan Street Bus Station. Delegates will be sent information about accommodation in Glasgow on receipt of their completed application form. The accommodation is being dealt with by the Greater Glasgow Tourist Board which will be happy to deal with any specific inquiries, whether concerning accommodation or leisure activities. It will also be happy to give you advice on Glasgow, Central Scotland and the rest of the country should you wish to extend your visit.

PROGRAMME On October 6, the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Management and the Association of Teachers of the CSP will be holding their annual general meetings and their joint discussion meeting in the Concert Hall. If you wish to attend, please complete the relevant section on the application form. The two groups will also be visiting the world-famous Burrell Museum in the evening, for a reception, viewing and buffet supper. All transport will be provided. In addition to the clinical programme (printed here) there are a full social programme, poster session, Specific Interest Group display, fringe meetings and a large trade exhibition. The Founders’ Lecture will be given by Miss Rosemary Lane MBE FCSP DipTP and will be entitled ‘Management -The enabling function’. Other keynote speakers will be Ann Hunter, Elaine Mottram and Mr Ken Collins MEP. Rosemary, Ann and Elaine will be holding follow-on discussions during the concurrent session period. During this period, delegates will have the choice of attending either the keynote speakers’ workshop, the special discussion sessions or the general paper sessions.

REPRESENTATIVES’ CONFERENCE The fourth Representatives’Conference will take place on the afternoon of Thursday, October 8, and all day on Friday, October 9. As this conference provides members with an opportunity for policy-making, all Boards and Branches are strongly encouraged to send in motions and to ensure that they have nominated their representatives. If you require any further information about this part of Congress, please contact the Secretariat at the CSP. EXHIBITION Congress will host a very large trade exhibition. This will be held in the dedicated exhibition space at the Concert Hall and will feature several new companies in addition to the ‘old’ friends. Catering will be in the exhibition area. Exhibitors are keen to meet as many delegates as possible during the Congress. They value your views on the equipment they market and look forward to chatting with you about it. Please try to visit as many stands as possible during the week. We will once again be running the Exhibitors’ Prize Draw.

STUDENT RATES To enable as many students to attend as possible, we are offering a reduced registration fee. All schools will shortly be receiving extra registration forms. SPECIFIC INTEREST GROUPS Groups may wish to put on an information stand in the catering area. Please let the Events Unit know as soon as possible if you wish to do this. Each group will have a 6 ft x 4 ft display area and two chairs for those staffing the display. Groups may also wish to put on a fringe meeting or discussion session about their work. There will be no charge for this - unless you wish to provide catering of any sort.

SOCIAL EVENTS This year’s Congress sees a variety of social events, which should appeal to everyone. Tuesday, October 6 The ACPM and ATCSP are holding their event at the Burrell Museum. At the Concert Hall, there will be a welcome ceilidh for all delegates to Congress. This will feature whisky tasting, a ‘taste of Scotland’ buffet, Scottish country dancing and music - a real introduction to Scottish hospitality. This event is free and runs from 7.30 pm until 11 pm.

Wednesday, October 7 The CSP are the guests of the Lord Provost of Glasgow at a civic reception to be held in the City Chambers, a beautiful Victorian building in George Square. Drinks and buffet reception will be provided.

Thursday, October 8 We will be holding the Congress dinner in the Trades House of Glasgow, preceded by a drinks reception at 7.30 pm. Tickets for the dinner are f 2 5 each and include a four-course dinner with coffee and mints, wine and VAT, representing excellent value for money. For those not wishing to attend the Congress dinner, there will be a buffet and disco in the Central Hotel. Tickets for this are El0 and include disco, late licence, buffet meal and VAT. Purchase of a dinner ticket will also entitle you to entry to the disco afterwards.
