Toulouse, France, 3-14 May 1982 Every year since l%S the Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES) has organized a course on space technology. In 1982 the subject of the course will be “Management of Large Space Projects”. The course will be held at the Toulouse Space Centre (France) from 3 to 14 May 1982. Its aim is to present and explain the state-of-the-art in the methods used for the management of large projects involving advanced technologies. Lecturers will mainly come from industry and space organizations in France, Europe and the United States. The main topics will be: Project organisation: milestones and phases, industrial organization, responsibility level . . . Management techniques: configuration control, scheduling, technical performance, reliability . . . Cost and resources management: cost evaluation, monitoring and estimates at completion . . . Risk analysis Tools for decision making: value analysis, design to life cycle cost . . . Case studies: the Ariane satellite launcher, Intelsat V, Telecom 1 . . . The course is intended for scientists and managers with some experience who are or will be dealing with large project management problems. Apart from one or two lectures which could be delivered in English, the course will be given in French. Simultaneous interpretation will not be provided. Foreign applications should therefore have a sound knowledge of spoken French. Registration forms should be returned before 1 February 1982 to the address given below.
