DSS "85 Fifth International Conference on Decision Support Systems San Francisco, CA, USA
Conference Program The program forum for this conference is a series of six tracks, arranged in a sequence which makes best use of attendee time. The conference's first track is oriented to those individuals and organizations who are just 'getting started' in DSS. A focus of this track is to enable new attendees to get maximum benefit from the main conference program. This track, which is being held for the first time, is offered with a separate registration fee from the main conference program. Introduction to DSS and DSS Tools: This new, special 'getting started' track will give a day-long introduction and overview to Decision Support Systems, including definition, design, resource requirements, artificial intelligence techniques, implementation considerations and DSS tools framework.
The main conference program is the subject of the remaining five tracks. Presentations and panels in this part of the program will be at the state of the art in DSS. DSS Futures: This track, the second of the new tracks, addresses the question of where DSS is going. Far-reaching papers by DSS leading researchers will address effective DSS, research and applications, DSS impacts and new technologies. Expert Systems: A n area of growing importance in the DSS area is artificial intelligence or knowledge-based systems. This track, the third of the new tracks, explores the application of these new technologies to DSS.
All elements of the four-day conference have been designed to provide balance and comprehensiveness in the treatment of Decision Support Systems and their potential to support business, government, education and services managers. The conference content will improve participants' ability to define, design, build, implement and gain success through such support systems.

Seventeen one or two-day sessions will provide opportunities for in-depth' hands-on experiences in a wide range of computer education activities. Attendance will be limited at the workshops, and they will require an extra registration fee. An exhibition encompassing 30,000 net square feet will complement the Conference Program. Over 100 exhibitors will present the latest technology and programs available at all educational levels.
