adapted for this purpose. It is clearly written and well illustrated , and is a thoroughly practical handbook. The book is most appropriately dedicated to Sir RONALD ROSS, and it must be a satisfaction to one who has been a foremost pioneer in the work of tropical sanitation to see so good an exposition of sound views on this important subject.

Sonde Minute Animal Parasites. By H. B. FANTttAi~I, D.Sc., B.A., F.Z.S., Lecturer in Parasitology, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine; and ANNIE PORTER, D.Sc. (Lond.), F.L.S. With Frontispiece and Fifty-six Text Figures. Methuen & Co., Ltd., 36, Essex Street, W.C. We welcome the issue of this volume, which states the main facts of tropical parasitology in a way which would be of interest to the ordinary reader.' The book is intended for science students who are unable to make a full study of the literature of tropical disease. The names of its authors are sufficient indication that the book is in accord with modern knowledge, and it is a m o s t readable volume. We cordially commend it to those for whom it is intended.

Dysenteries : Their Differentiation and Treatment. By LEONARD RO~RS, M.D., etc. H e n r y Frowde and Hodder and Stoughton. 10s. 6d. net. This important volume is a valuable addition to our library. Sir LEONAI~D ROSm~S has rendered many services to the cause of Tropical Medicine, but his introduction of the use of emetine in cases of amoebic dysentery, as described in this volume, is perhaps the greatest of all. We hope that he may be as successful in the methods of treatment of other tropical bowel complaints as he has been in dealing with dysentery a n d cholera.
