Despite a promising future on the beginning, embryoscopy has been almost abandoned subsequently. This can be explained by two reasons: -
the pitfalls of embryscopy (abortion) the dramatic advances in echography.
-
The current availability of micro-fiberoptic materials has completely modified the possibilities of embryoscopy today: -
it is performed by an abdominal puncture, and this reduces infections risks; the microtiber is passed through amniocentesis needles;

the handling of microfibers is good; the quality of the images obtained is excellent.
The indications of embryoscopy are actually limited. However, it could be proposed without, greater risk in comparison with amniocentesis. A film is available, which shows the possibilities of the new generation embryoscopy for the embryo and yolk sac visualization. Then, one can prospect a more precise approach of the embryonic development between six and ten weeks of gestational age. In addition, in some cases, samples could be obtained from the yolk sac.
