EnPro Industries agrees to acquire PSI

I

n the USA, EnPro Industries Inc has signed an agreement to acquire the business of Pipeline Seal and Insulator Inc (PSI) and its affiliates, a privatelyowned group of companies that manufactures products which ensure the safe flow of fluids through pipeline transmission and distribution systems worldwide. PSI primarily serves the global oil and gas industry, and water and wastewater infrastructure markets. The business manufactures flange sealing and flange isolation products; pipeline casing spacers and isolators; casing end seals; the original Link-Seal modular sealing system for sealing pipeline penetrations into walls, floors, ceilings and bulkheads; hole-forming products; manhole infiltration sealing systems; and safety-related signage for pipelines. It has facilities in the USA, Germany and the UK, and will be included in EnPro’s Garlock family of companies. The transaction is being consummated by a number of domestic and international EnPro subsidiaries not involved in Garlock Sealing Technologies Llc’s asbestos claims resolution process. ‘PSI will be a significant addition to the Garlock family of companies and to their expertise in industrial sealing,’ commented Steve Macadam, President and Chief Executive Officer, EnPro. ‘The acquisition will expand these companies’ manufacturing capabilities, increase their participation in global oil and gas markets and provide them with a larger and well established presence in water and wastewater markets, where substantial demand is likely

to be created by infrastructure improvements in coming years. At the same time, the acquisition will provide PSI with access to many new markets and improved opportunities for growth.’ Contacts: EnPro Industries Inc, 5605 Carnegie Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28209-4674, USA. IN BRIEF Hardide Coatings appoints non-executive director Hardide Coatings Ltd has appointed Bruce Robinson as a non-executive director. He will serve on both the audit committee and the combined remuneration and nomination committee. Robinson has extensive experience of the international oil and gas industry and growing technology-based businesses, says the firm. Graham Hine, Chief Executive Officer, Hardide Coatings, commented: ‘Bruce’s experience of growing small technology-based businesses will assist our strategy to develop new and diversified applications for the Hardide coating technology. His engineering background and commercial understanding of the oil and gas industry is particularly relevant as we capitalise on opportunities for growth in this sector.’ Techlok sealring colour coding system abandoned Vector International Ltd reports that after many years of applying a colour code system to its polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coatings on Techlok sealrings, these products will be now coated black, irrespective of the material grade. By removing colour coding, it will become mandatory for all users to formally identify the sealring material grade by inspecting the marking data which are hard-stamped on the parts. While formal marking data have always been present, there is evidence that “casual” identification, using colour, has become accepted in the market place, and this has led to confusion as not all suppliers have followed the original colour coding scheme, says the company.
