In 1974, the Euro n National OR Societies decided to co-ordinate their actions to promote OR in Europe. Several activities were initiated including the establishment of a number of Working Groups and organisation of a regular Congress called EURO IL In 1977 the European Journal of Operational Research was launched and this now publishes 12 issues a year. The first four congresses were held as follows; EURO I EURO II EURO III EURO IV
in Brussels, in Stockholm, in Amsterdam, in Cambridge,
January 27-29, 1975 Nov 290Dee 1, 1976 April 9-11, 1979 July 22-25, 1980
The fifth EURO congress will be held jointly with the Institute of Management Science in Lausanne, Switzerland, July 12-14, 1982. sttuctum
The total number of streams and sessions will be limited and two types of presentation are planned. Some will be of 30 minutes duration and others will be allocated 15 minutes. Authors will be expected to provide extensive notes of their papers to assist delegates in following the presentation of their papers. Theme The Practice of Operational Research. Call for papem Potential contributors are invited to submit abstracts of up to 200 words for consideration. All aspects of ihe practice of Operational Research will be considered but special consideration will be given to,papers describing work for a client. Papers in the fields of applications, state of the art, methods, industrial work, and theoretical developments will be welcomed.

Selection Abstracts of papers will be considered by the pro8rammecommittee and authors notified in December 1981 about the details of presentation.
Instruction,,to authors All abstracts accompanied by a cheque or money order for f25 sterling, made payable to OR Society (EURO V) should be sent to the Secretary, OR Society, Neville House, Waterloo Street, Birmingham B25TX, UK. The money will be returned immediately if the paper is not accepted, otherwise it will be used as a booking deposit.
