To qualify for financial support, the applicant must:
PANEL DISCUSSIONS
Several late afternoon panel events are planned. These events will address policy issues and changing conditions which affect the conduct of space science.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT Avery limited amount of money will be available to facilitate participation in the 35th COSPAR Scientific Assembly. Please read the instructions below, and use the accompanying application form when appropriate. Participants of COSPAR Scientific Assemblies are reminded that they should rely on their own national sources to finance travel/living expenses. In exceptional cases partial support, E 500 or E1500, may be available to those participants who are unable to obtain sufficient funding. In many cases only some seed money will be provided. Priority will be given to: 1. scientists from COSPAR member countries. 2. scientists under 35 years of age on 1 January 2004, . senior scientists from Eastern European, the former Soviet Union, and developing countries,
. be scheduled to present a paper, of which he/she is the principal author, in one or more of the Assembly scientific events, 2. secure most of the required financial support from national sources, . submit a completed.financial support application form together with the abstract of his/ her paper to the Main Scientific Organizer of the relevant event by 15 February 2004. A copy of the application without abstract(s) must be sent to the COSPAR SecretariaLt . agree to submit in a timely manner after the Assembly a manuscript for publication in Advances in Space Research.
Applicants will be judged by the Main Scientific Organizers with regard to the importance of their contribution to the relevant event. The importance of the contribution will be determined in relation to the complete set of abstracts received and the consequent structuring of the event by the Main Scientific Organizer. Final decisions will be made by the COSPAR Bureau according to the funding available and the priorities outlined above. All applicants will be informed by the COSPAR Secretariat of the outcome of this process in April 2004. Successful applicants will receive their support upon arrival at the Scientific Assembly.
COSPAR COLLOQUIA SERIES
Proceedings of COSPAR Colloquia, held regularly since late 1989, appear in the COSPAR Colloquia Series. This series is published by Elsevier Science, and to date the following volumes have appeared: Volume Volume Volume
