Housing Congress to Address New Housing Trends for Developing Nations Biscayne Bay Marriott Hotel, Miami, 14-20 December 1986 Housing production for medium and low-income populations is a major problem in all countries. While every country has programs to cope with the ever-increasing demand for better shelter for families, accomplishing the objective is complicated by resource shortages and administrative obstacles of many kinds. In an effort to help address these problems, Florida International University in Miami will convene a World Congress on Housing, 14-20 December 1986 at the Biscayne Bay Marriott Hotel in Miami, FL. The 'Congress On New Trends in Housing Projects: Emphasizing Developing Countries' will be presented by the university's College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Institute for Housing and Building, Division of Continuing Education, and the International Association for Housing Science (IAHS), whose headquarters are located on the FIU campus, and is cosponsored by the University of West Indies--Trinidad. This is the twelfth major World Congress on Housing sponsored by IAHS, bringing together distinguished scientists, engineers, architects and other experts to discuss the dominant problems in the housing industry and studies. The program at the congress will be both multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary, presenting a complete view of housing planning, financing, construction and many other related topics. Topics to be presented include engineering design, architectural design, housing for the elderly, urban planning, land policies,, environmental planning, economic impact, financial aspects, social concerns, governmental planning and energy conservation.
