PROCESS FOR P R O D U C I N G G L U C O S E / F R U C T O S E SYRUPS FROM UNREFINED STARCH HYDROLYSATES Louis S. Hurst; Norman E. Lloyd, assigned to Nabisco Brands lnc A glucose/fructose syrup is produced by enzymatically isomerizing an unrefined starch hydrolysate. The hydrolysate is prepared under controlled liquefaction and saccharification conditions to provide an isomerization substrate wherein the conc e n t r a t i o n s of calcium ions and nonenzymatically generated ketose sugars are maintained at low levels.

SELF-DEGRADING COMPOSITION A N D F O D D E R Sandor Piukovich; Lajos Stankovics; Tibor Kiralyhidi, Budapest, Hungary, assigned to Chinoin Gyogyszer es Vegyeszeti Termekek Gyara Rt The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a self-degrading composition suitable for use in feeding a n d : o r feed-conversing purposes and if desired for the conversion thereof into a self-degrading fodder mixture which comprises pre-degrading the starch being present in cereal fodder and/or maize fodder to an extent that the degradation index of the crop should be from 0. 12 to 0.27, and thereafter admixing the so-called available starch thus obtained in finely ground form in optional order of succession with alphaamylase and optionally with further additives and - - if self-degrading fodder mixture is to be prepared --with fodder. The composition of the present invention provides carbohydrates utilizable by the digestive

organs of animals. The process of the invention provides products equivalent with the very expensive maltodextrins using cheap and readily available starting materials.

4376126 M E T H O D OF MAKING A Y O G H U R T BEVERAGE AND P R O D U C T THEREBY Paulus H J M Evers, Veghel, Netherlands, assigned to DMV-Camping B V A method of producing a beverage from yoghurt and, optionally, fruit juice, fruit essence or fruit concentrate, having good keeping qualities. The yoghurt is prepared in the conventional manner by fermenting milk until the mass has reached a pH value conventional for yoghurt, and the fermented milk is mixed as desired with minor amounts of water, sugars, pectin and flavors and,'or colors and, optionally, fruit juice, fruit essence or fruit concentrate. After the mixing of the ingredients the mass is homogenized and is subsequently subjected to a heat treatment, comprising warming up to a temperature between 45 degrees and 55 degrees C. while the mass is being agitated and while maintaining a temperature difference between the heating medium and the mass of no more than l0 degrees C., and then to a cooling treatment at a temperature between 25 degrees and 35 degrees C. At that temperature the product is again homogenized, and then pasteurized or sterilized, cooled and aseptically packed, or packed and then pasteurized or sterilized within the package. 4375515 M E T H O D FOR P R O D U C I N G MICROBIAL CELLS AND USE T H E R E O F TO P R O D U C E OXIDATION P R O D U C T S
