The two contracts signed with PGE Gornictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna SA, which owns and operates Belchatow and several power plants in Poland, are worth 140 million. The first contract with PGE covers the retrofitting of the turbine island equipment on six of Belchatow’s units. Under the terms of the second contract, Alstom will retrofit the units’ existing electrostatic precipitators.

Metso wins Chinese dissolving pulp line order etso is supplying a E10 million fiberline for dissolving pulp to Fujian Qingshan Paper Industry Co Ltd in Qingzhou city, China. The Metso delivery includes the design and supply of the main equipment of the fiberline from cooking to bleaching. The batch cooking plant is designed according to the prehydrolysis process and wash presses will be used in all washing positions. Start-up is scheduled for the first half of 2012.

acobs Engineering Group Inc has received a contract from China’s Porton Fine Chemicals Ltd has selected Jacobs Engineering Group Inc to provide detailed engineering services for a new multi-purpose GMP manufacturing facility in Chongqing, China. 4

SNC-Lavalin wins copper contract in Saudi Arabia

ariq Mining has selected SNCLavalin to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for the Jabal Sayid copper concentrator project in Saudi Arabia. The project has an estimated pre-production capital cost of US$300 million. SNCLavalin’s mandate includes ore crushing, conveying and stockpiling facilities; facilities for concentrating, storage and loading; as well as mine infrastructure including power, water and tailings disposal facilities. Work has already started and the project is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2012.

AMEC awarded North Sea contracts
Jasmine facilities in the North Sea, 240 km south-east of Aberdeen. Jasmine is a high pressure, high temperature gas-condensate reservoir, discovered in June 2006. It is located approximately 9 km west of the existing Judy platform in ConocoPhillips’ J-Block area. Jasmine will use the existing processing capacity on the Judy platform, with first production anticipated to start in the fourth quarter of 2012.

oster Wheeler AG’s Global Engineering and Construction is to provide project management consultancy services for a new floating LNG receiving terminal to be built in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia by Group Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN). Foster Wheeler’s work includes technical assistance through the initial phase of the development of the project, conceptual design of the terminal, basic design of the subsea and onshore pipeline as well as the preparation and issue of an invitation to bid for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), EPC bid evaluations, preparation of the EPC contract and support to PGN in EPC contract negotiation.

MEC has been selected by Apache North Sea Ltd to undertake project management, engineering and procurement for the design and implementation of brownfield modifications to the Forties Alpha platform. The modifications will facilitate the connection of Apache’s new bridge-linked Satellite Platform to the existing Forties Alpha platform, located in the central North Sea, 178 km north east of Aberdeen. The two-year multimillion pound award continues the ongoing relationship between Apache and AMEC. Over the last five years AMEC has provided a number of brownfield modification services including electrical infrastructure switchboard upgrades, a deep gas lift project and field well completions across their Forties field platforms. Meanwhile, AMEC has also been awarded the detailed engineering and procurement for ConocoPhillips’ existing Judy platform and the hook-up and commissioning of their new

BR’s Australia-based Infrastructure and Minerals business unit is undertaking a climate change adaptation study for the Asian Development Bank in order to identify the risks of potential climate change to five Pacific island nations – East Timor, Fiji, Marshall Islands, Palau and Solomon Islands. KBR will study the countries’ existing and planned infrastructures, examine how they might be affected by climatic events such as a rise in sea levels, and recommend how they might best be protected from such events.
