G u s t a v L o r e n t z e n - 70, and still going strong This month Professor Lorentzen celebrates his 70th birthday, and we wish to celebrate it with him. Gustav is a tall man - not only in stature, but in achievement and in friendliness. The last forty years are scattered with useful and profound technical papers from himself and his fellow authors. He has contributed widely in refrigeration and heat pumps, and all forms of plant and equipment used in them. In recent years, typified by his paper in the November 1983 issue of this Journal, he has analysed the national and world energy scenes, and given wise and clear guidance on necessary changes. Gustav gets things done. It is demonstrated by the size and eminence of his Trondheim laboratory. He knows how to chose good people and to activate and inspire them. Equally it has been shown within the International Institute of Refrigeration. No one has made a larger contribution to guiding the development of the Institute in the last 20 years than he. We acknowledge our debt to him in this Journal. For the first six years of its life there was no harder working member of the Editorial Board. Our good wishes to Gustav, and his wife, for many more years.

Tout au long des quarante derni~res ann~es, lui et ses collaborateurs o n t publi~ des rapports techniques utiles et de valeur.
