Heat Processing Courses The Heat Processing Operations and Container Closure Evaluation Course certified by the Canadian Food Processors Association and the Meat Packers Council is now in its fourth year. This course is designed for retort operators, supervisors, cook room supervisors and other canning plant supervisors. Four schools currently teach this course, however the scheduled times are often fully subscribed and it is recommended that anyone interested in enrolling should submit an application as soon as possible. Nutrition Communication Award Mr. Robert S. Hurlbut, President of General Foods, Limited announced the winners in the third annual General Foods Nutrition Communication Award from entries received from the media across the country. The adjudicators gave the Award of Excellence to Mme Louise Lambert-Legace of la revue Chiltelaine; the Award of Merit was given to Miss Julian Armstrong, The Montreal Star and the Highly Commended notation was given to Mrs. Tina Ivaney of the Mississauga News, Ontario. Louise Lambert-Legace receives a cheque for $1,000, Julian Armstrong, $500, and all three winners receive specially designed commemorative plaques. The award is open to all Canadian writers and broadcasters for single columns, features or a series published or broadcast during the calendar year. There is no entry fonn as such. The mailing of article(s) constitutes an entry. The deadline for submission for the fourth annual award is February 15, 1978.
