Cohen, U. K. Luthra, H. Torloni, and pathologists in eleven countries. Geneva, 1971, World Health Organization. 27 pages, 40 color illustrations. This work is the fourth in a series of publications bi the World Health Organization. The goal of these publications is to promote the adoption of a uniform terminolog of tumors that will facilitate and improve communication among cancer workers. The eleven distinguished pathologists who collaborated on this classification studied 362 cases to arrive at the proposed classifications. The quality of the work maintains the high standards set by the previous publications. Covered in the publication are benign and malignant tumors of squamous epithelium, some benign and malignant tumors of soft tissues, unclassified tumors, and tumorlike conditions. Salivary gland tumors, melanogenic tumors, and many soft-tissue tumors are not covered; these are typed in other respective publications. A good discussion of various factors, such as histologic grade, stage, a.nd geographic location as they relate to prognosis, is included. The reviewer is impressed with the workability of the proposed classification and its no-nonsense approach. This book should be in the hands of everyone associated with oropharyngeal cancer. The illustrated examples of the lesions t,yped in this publication are of excellent quality. The publication may be obtained in the United States from The American public f&&h Association, Inc., 1015 Eighteenth Street, N.W., Washington, D. C. 20036. The cost of the publication is $4.00. Optional color photomicrographs are also available to accompany the publication; these are of the highest quality and are available for an extra charge of $12.75. French and Spanish editions are in preparation. Joseph S. Ciansanti
